Every child grows at their own pace, so the ages below are a guide, not a rule.
If you are between two classes, call us and we will tell you honestly which one fits your child.

Playgroup
1.5 to 2.5 years

- Settling into a room away from home, with a teacher who knows their name
- Saying more words and short phrases through songs and rhymes
- Playing beside other children before playing with them
- Simple actions: clapping, stacking, scribbling, splashing
Nursery
2.5 to 3.5 years

- Speaking in sentences and telling small stories
- Sharing, taking turns and asking for help
- Holding a crayon, painting, pressing clay
- Colours, shapes and the first counting games
LKG
3.5 to 4.5 years

- Letter sounds and first words
- Counting, matching and simple number play
- Cutting, pasting and threading, the small hand skills that matter later
- Listening to longer stories and asking questions about them
UKG
4.5 to 5.5 years
Home by 1:00

- Reading and writing first words
- Numbers and simple sums through games
- Working on their own for a stretch, then sharing what they made
- Feeling ready and confident for primary school
